Beef is not a good source of protein and lamb is not as bad as beef. Lamb has less cholesterol. But still does not have much nutritional value.
Vegetables and beans/legumes are a much better source of protein that are also rich in phytonutrients.

Depends what cut.. usually lamb is high in sat fat but it does have good protein in it. Alot of middle easterns eat lamb, my day usually buys it. If I were I wouldn't eat it every day, just my opinon, just a few times a week.

Beef isn't a good source of protein? Are you joking? Veggies are better? Are you joking?Originally Posted by Elijah_Lynn
Vegetables and beans aren't complete proteins though. You don't eat beans for the protein, you eat them for the fibre and complex carbs. The protein is complimentary.
Do some basic reserach my friend before dropping garbage advice like that.

What? Beans (w/ rice) has the WORST biological value of all the complete proteins. That's why whenever someone post a pic of a vegan BBer to prove it can be done, the guy looks like Brad Pitt. Lean beef is an EXCELLENT source of not only protein, but also naturally occurring creatine. It's high in saturated fat and dietary cholesterol tho, but if you eat 1-2 steaks a week IMO it will benefit you more than it will hurt you, especially if your diet is already low in those "risky" components. Lamb is very similar to beef.Originally Posted by Elijah_Lynn

Vegetables do contain complete proteins, and so do soybeans. You are correct beans do not have all the amino acids but if you eat them with veggies it contributes to the overall protein consumption
Vegetables and beans are a much healthier form of protein and do not come with cholesterol. It may not be "better" for Bodybuilding. But it is nutritionally better! You also will not risk a heart attack in the future.
I have done research on the subject. Here is a link to the nutritional data for a pound of spinach.
http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts-B00001-01c20gM.html
Believe it or not but Broccoli has twice as much protein as beef/steak (calorically). Edit - Typo, changed spinach to Beef.
http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts-B00001-01c20c0.html
At the bottom page of the above links you will see the overall protein score and it shows the necessary amino acids.
But in the original question it did not state "is it a good source for building muscle", it just said, "is it a good source of protein".
If you want all your protein with choleseterol that is fine, I am just stating which is healthier.

I love lamb. I definitely wouldn't eat it more than twice a week though. Mmmm, now I'm thinking about a nice lean slab of lamb. Damn I can't wait for finals to be over so I can finally eat normal again!
